After hearing the inevitable, that he had been chosen by the Sonics second overall, Kevin Durant kissed his mother, Wanda Pratt, and got congratulations from his friends and family. Dressed in a black suit with a burnt orange Texas tie, Durant shook David Stern's hand and then chatted with Stuart Scott on ESPN about his favorite quote, "Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard."
A teary-eyed Pratt spoke with ESPN's Lisa Salters. "I'm so proud of him," she said.
Jay Bilas of ESPN called it "possibly the easiest pick in the history of the NBA Draft." Hard to disagree.
